The CSL, Centro Sperimentale del Latte/Experimental Dairy Centre is an Italian company founded with the objective to study and enhance the food grade lactic acid bacteria and other microorganisms.
Founded on the teachings of its creator, Dr. Leo Vesely, today the Centro Sperimentale del Latte researches, develops, manufactures and sells probiotics, lactic acid bacteria, molds and yeasts, intended for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, dairy, food and agro-livestock sectors.

Following their acquisition, together with Sacco it becomes the Italian pole of reference in the field of lactic acid bacteria and is, in fact, the third productive force in the field of thermophile cultures, with an extensive collection of isolated microbial strains, isolated and selected on the basis of their fermentative and functional characteristics.
Industrial work is supported by copious technical and scientific, basic and applied research, which is embodied in over 300 CSL publications amongst experimental works and reviews.
The customer is always to the fulcrum of CSL’s activity, an ideal partner for the study and development of new products and technologies that meet the needs of the individual customer and the market.

  1. 1948

    Dr. Leo Vesely founds the Centro Sperimentale del Latte with the aim of scientifically demonstrating the; importance of the lactic acid bacteria for the human body from here on CSL pursues this philosophy with a world leadership role in nutritional and health-food issues, in the human and animal fields.

  2. 1970

    CSL starts marketing its products in major world markets through a direct sales network and distributors present throughout the territories.

  3. 1980

    Creation of the agro-livestock division, by means of the study and selection of special lactic acid bacteria it allows for the implementation of an effective methodology for obtaining healthier silage.

  4. 1990

    Given the prodigious market demands, the need arises for a new facility; this year the plant in Zelo Buon Persico (LO) is built, where the company (offices and production) is still present today.

  5. 1991

    International expansion is consolidated, first with the opening of a branch in France then becoming CSL France, based in Claix.

  6. 1994

    It is the year of the opening and the start of activities at the production site in Pasturago (MI).
    The CSL microbial strains with functional properties and health benefits are deposited in International Collections with an IDA status.

  7. 1997

    The CSL agro-livestock division is committed to guaranteeing the viability and healthiness of the productions in the first link in the food chain leading to the consumer, operating with maximum respect for the environment.

  8. 2012

    Starting from this year, the know-how and the different divisions of CSL products are present at major trade shows in Europe and the world.

  9. 2013

    Sacco Ltd, based in Cadorago, acquires CSL, Centro Sperimentale del Latte.

  10. 2016

    CSL is an integral part of Sacco System, the convergence of excellence in the field of biotechnology applied to the food and health industries.
