Sacco is a biotech company that has positioned itself in the international market since 1934, as a producer and partner in research areas, scale-up, production and packaging of selected frozen and lyophilized microbial cultures, to be used for the production of food and beverages, and probiotic products.

 

The Labware division develops and markets laboratory instrumentation and equipment and materials and reagents that find their application in many sectors, from food to pharmaceutical, university to research.

 

The Sacco know-how and expertise supports the fermented foods industry in the production of healthier food, enriched by the characteristics appreciated by customers and end-consumers.

The company's strength lies in the Research & Development team, who can produce customized cultures for the individual customer, through validated and guaranteed procedures.

Over 110 countries, more than 70 laboratory technicians, a capillary network of agents and distributors on the national and international territory, 4 production plants.

  1. 1934

    1934 Vittorio Sacco founds the company that takes the same name.
    Thus begins the continuously rising course of this biotech company, which though operating in a technologically advanced industry, likes to keep the stamp of reality on a human scale.




  2. 1984

    The Milanese company is acquired by Verga family from Cadorago. A new business, based in Lariana province, sharing decades of scientific and technological expertise, is created.




  3. 1994

    Sacco expands the marketing of its products throughout Europe and contributes to the export of the experience, the quality and the Italian tradition.




  4. 2003

    Sacco’s international presence is consolidated with the opening of the commercial branch of Sacco Brazil, in Brazil.




  5. 2004

    The foundation of Clerici Sacco Portugal.




  6. 2008

    The "production quality" of the entire Sacco business process obtains the prestigious ISO 9001 certification.




  7. 2009

    The foreign branch of the company in Poland is created with the foundation of Sacco Polska. The company, an expression of Italian experience and the Polish dairy tradition, gives life to a synergy of products, knowledge and skills of professionals in the field.




  8. 2012

    In order to increase the local presence abroad a representative office in India opens.




  9. 2013

    Sacco acquires the CSL, Centro Sperimentale del Latte company. The acquisition of the first Italian business formed to study and demonstrate the importance of lactic acid bacteria in the human body gives the center an important leadership worldwide.




  10. 2016

    Sacco System is the convergence of excellence in the field of biotechnology applied to the food and health industries.. The concept of “System” is introduced to express the interconnection of different companies (Caglificio Clerici, Sacco, Kemikalia, CSL) into a completely organic and unitary functioning.
    Sacco System communicates the concept of sharing aimed at virtuous growth: evolution beyond innovation.
