Species Lactobacillus plantarum. Origin Isolated from cheese. Deposit LMG P-20353. Excipient None (it is a bulk preparation, no carriers are added). ID method The strain Lactobacillus plantarum BG112 has been subjected to a total DNA extraction and a 16S rDNA sequence analysis. The results obtained allowed the identification of the strain as Lactobacillus plantarum. Strain typing was performed by PFGE analysis of DNA. Characteristics Microaerophilic, Gram positive rod producing bacteriocin. Lactobacillus plantarum BG112 is facultative heterofermentative and produces DL-lactic acid from fermentation of glucose.
